First church was in Keighley. Yorkshire

First Newspaper *The Yorkshire Spiritual Telegraph”

Lyceum opened at Nottingham (Classroom for Teaching)
1869
Committee appointed to investigate Spiritualism. This was published and the report was favourable and it was by a body pf people outside spiritualism.
1882
Society for Psychical Research founded.
1887
“Two Worlds” first published. A monthly magazine that can be ordered from a newsagent.
1901
Spiritual National Union Limited founded (SNU). They work for spiritualism to be passed by law to acknowledge it as a religion.
1916
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle his belief in public.
1932
Psychic News founded by Arthur Findley this newspaper can be ordered from your local newsagent weekly and gives news on mediums, events, books and meetings.
1937
Spiritualism investigated by the Church of England, Committee set up by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Cosmo Gordon Lang Report was never published.
1940
Spiritualist National Union achieves full Government recognition and is granted a certificate to act as a trust corporation.
1944
Helen Duncan tried in London for mediumship (witchcraft)
1951
Passing of the “Fraudulent Act” removing mediums from two threats.
1. Witchcraft Act – 1735
2. Vagrancy Act – 1824
Therefore spiritualism was open and legal. We would practice as a religion and openly communicate with spirit on demonstration.
1964
Stansted Hall given by Arthur Findley, to SNU now teaching college. Arthur Findley was a middle-class man, his wife was Protestant, she attended church in the village while her husband was a staunch believer and into the research of training of mediums. To Find more and more proof there is life after physical death.
Stanstead Hall today is the SNU Teaching College all walks of life attend from all over the world. You do not have to be a medium to attend the course, they are weekly or sometimes 2-3 days
